Hotfix: We believe we have finally dealt with the Invisible Infinite Attacking Ghost Spiders issue, or so we do pray to God. Falling through walls should be far less likely now. Erratic door behavior should no longer hard-lock the player. We have also tried to improve mouse capture. We left all the other bugs in for you to enjoy, pun intended. Thank you for your patience and for giving our game a chance.

You can also now download an identical version of the game for Windows to enjoy better performance and sound (we decided to take the opportunity of this jam to learn more about FMOD, but the integration with WebGL is unfortunately poor)

Story

In a dying universe, humanity's last hope resides aboard a cargo ship drifting through the void. You, the last survivor, must retrieve the tools and knowledge to save the Earth and humankind. But you're not alone. Something is there with you, something that is... screaming, crawling, scratching. The crew is gone, and time is running out. Will you be the savior, or will darkness claim humanity's final breath?

Collect Power-Ups, Collect different Guns and KILL! EVERYTHING! THAT! CRAWLS! Otherwise... you might die a painful death, but don´t worry-- you will be reborn.

Crew

For us, as a team of 6 hobby developer it was very important to have fun, gain knowledge and create something together. It was also very important for us to create something on our own! Besides the Walls, some particles and Unity's Standard First Person Controller, everything was handcrafted, handwritten, handmade.

The glorious brain of our Project was Lany. He did all the coding, hacking, programming and trying not to let us break the whole project.

A brain without a CO-Brain is just half as good. Also helping with programming, as well as the room designs, he helped put out fires and created custom our Shaders and weapon VFX, it's the young but incredible passionate Lowel.

The Monsters and Plants were done by the awesome and talented Emily
(She created creatures, animation, boss, plants in just a few days, from sculpting, to Game-Ready Asset!)

The incredible sound design belongs to LucaA very passionate and humble sound designer that created the best Menu Theme that exists. (Yes, I spent most time in Menu just for the song)

The UI Design, the Level Concept Design, the effects (healing, blood etc.) were done by the amazing and most gentle Guy called Roronoa

The Weapons, Animations for the Weapons and all the other Assets you will find during that short level are created by Stefan.  (I´m also writing this, so if anyone wants to add some fancy adjectives, feel free.)

We really hope you like our short Game. We would really appreciate your feedback! Thanks to this awesome team and experience and thanks to GameDev.TV!

This game was one of the first games I've played in this game jam.
I didn't finished it the first time I tried it, because man, this game is HARD XD.
I already knew I had to come back to play it again XD

I'm proud to say that despite my potato pc that made me play it sub 5 fps during the most intense fights and the general high difficult of the game, I officially finished it!

I've already rated this game, but I want to let you know one more time that you ALL guys have made an amazing game!

Great job!

Boy pretty tough game.

I do like how you can open doors and go to different rooms and how you can see out into space through the windows, nice touches

very competent game. the aliens look fantastic and the upgrade where a very clever addition, as I really wanted to keep my health in order to buy the permanent upgrades and not have to spent money on healing.
I wish the bigger weapon would feel a little more powerful though, as it doesn't really make a difference to the pistol. rapid fire or charged shot or maybe push-back and definetely a different sound with more oomph. but of course, it was a game jam and recources are limited. but it would make a big difference and shouldn't take too long ;-)

also: loved how you introduced your team. that should be gold standart on game jams.

Thanks for that feedback. I agree the Shotgun should be more powerful and when I animated it in Blender I looked a little bit more powerful, same with the walking animation but as you said, it's a GameJam, just a few days next to full-time job and ofc learning new stuff.

I'm also glad you liked how I introduced the team but for me this is always important! Even if 80% of the people might not even read it.

I wanted the shotgun to be able to blast the buggers right back out the window they were climbing in with a little knockback effect but the pressures of time turned out to be real. Thanks for checking it out, appreciate the feedback

I spent so much time in the menu for the song too

I LOVED IT. FREAKING LOVED IT SO MUCH.

THE MECHANICS ARE FANTASTIC.

THE MUSIC: 100/10

Awesome that you like the game and hell yea, Luca put out a banger Menu Theme. I also spent so much time in Menu while making the Art haha.

If you noticed any bugs pls let us know. The first bug fix will come hopefully today. :)

I think the aliens still damage you after death on occasion

(+1)

We still have some issues with the ai being invisible atm and are on it to fix it :). But thanks for the information.

i sometimes saw that Im taking damage out of nowhere OR the aliens were inside the ground some of them

ghost spiders is what I've been calling them. we've politely but firmly asked them to leave in this hotfix if you'd like to give it another go

🔥

this sneaky problem really made me tear my hair out. but I believe I've finally fixed it if you'd like to give the game another chance

Wow! I love everything about it. The music, models and gameplay were all fantastic!!!! It all felt very polished and hope that you continue to work on this game beyond the Jam :)

Thank you! That means a lot to us! Glad to hear you think it's well polished, because in our mind we need to still fix a lot of bugs. Haha. Glad you liked it! :)

Hold your heads high, you've made a working game in such a short time! The bugs will get sorted. You've made an experience, that's what is truly important. Kudos to you and the rest of the team 🥳

Aw. Thank you so much. I don't even know how to reply to that humble message. That really means a lot to all of us! I'm super glad I had the opportunity to work with such great and inspiring people.

(+1)

Thanks man. I really need to hear this after all those game-breaking bugs showed up at the last minute. You helped pull me out my slump. I just put up a hotfix, so you should be able to finish the game now

(+1)

Wow! This was EVEN MORE impressive than I first thought lmao. I already loved the game before being able to see the GREEN enemies. I found all the upgrades (I think) and beat the game.

My notes for your team:

Armor I assume let's you get hit 1 time for free, is that correct? The power-ups were a nice touch, ESPECIALLY given the time constraints

Lany/Lowel - +++I REALLY loved the game. Smooth and the physics feel perfect for the genre. -If you fight underneath the areas that spawn enemies in the last area, you get hit with intense lag.

Emily/Stefan - +++To get THAT much modeling would be impressive given the time, but you ALSO MANAGED ANIMATIONS AND OTHER ASSETS?!?! Job well done!

Roronoa - +++ Your game felt intuitive to navigate and the positioning of your UI were perfect. I never felt distracted by any of it, I managed to stay immersed in the game because I didn't have to worry about managing 9 million things.

Luca - +++ The loops you have are amazing. They don't distract while providing INCREDIBLE energy to the game. VERY well done!

I really do hope your team keeps working on this one, it has a ton of potential :D
