Overview
This game is set in a world responding to and already transformed by the climate crisis. It freely explores what a world profoundly altered by climate change might look like while remaining grounded in real world solutions such as those being implemented in the global merchant fleet today.

Gameplay
Sail Cargo puts players in command of a growing cargo fleet on a globe of the Earth and tasks them with rebuilding international trade routes. A strategic sailing sim, directed top-down, featuring events on the water and in harbor, and a robust simulated economy. Players decide on trade routes, investments, expansion, and how to deal with everything from pirates to food shortages, to government bodies and unpredictable weather.
Fleet Command
Start with one ship, grow a fleet, Left Click to select a ship. Right Click to chart a course, drop anchor to discover foreign ports filled with trade opportunities, stories, and choices.
Ports
Differing locales feature different opportunities: resource production, resource refinement, buying and selling goods, storing goods, hiring crew, building and retrofitting ships, and special delivery contracts. Ports evolve with player investment over time.
Crew
Ships require rations, crew, resources, wages, and morale. Neglect a crew and risk desertion, mutiny, or death.
Trade Routes
Set stops and orders in an automation layer and let your ships run themselves. Only high-level problems get flagged as notifications needing player attention.
Exploration
Our world, changed, reveals itself as the player explores the globe. Newly discovered ports offer new opportunities.
Win & Loss
Ships can sink, be stolen, or otherwise lost for good, crews can desert. Skilled players will be able to optimize shipping routes, curious players can focus on exploration.
Ships
Ship design straddles a line between a realistic future of what freighter craft might look like someday and a somewhat romanticized Age of Sail nautical vibe: windjammers and barkentines, but also small freight craft.
